Trainee Configuration Engineer
Allan Webb Ltd is looking to hire a Trainee Configuration Engineer to join our team in Portsmouth.
Allan Webb has been a leading provider of supportability services and technical documentation for over 60 years, utilising data intelligence to devise informed solutions. Based in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, Allan Webb service contracts throughout the UK, where our staff are embedded to closely work with customers.
To support future growth of a joint Allan Webb Ltd/customer team, we are looking for a Trainee Configuration Engineer to join our Portsmouth team working with a key supplier to the MOD. This is a technical role where full on the job training will be provided by experienced Naval configuration engineers. The role will involve learning the requirements for maintaining Configuration Status Accounting data within the MOD nominated Naval Master Record configuration Database (currently SSDD) against approved technical source information such as interrogating technical drawings and parts lists.
The role will include learning the Maritime Surface Ship stakeholder community, their requirements and how they can both provide for and utilise the Configuration Status Accounting Service provision. The role requires a self-starter who, once trained, can undertake tasks against priorities in processing the source data material to meet customer key performance indicators.
- You will need an ONC or equivalent engineering academic qualification as well as an understanding of the importance of Health & Safety.
- You must also be able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and be able to build positive and effective relationships.
Finally, you will require knowledge of IT tools (e.g. Microsoft Office)
