Helping drive efficiency savings within operational support…
Allan Webb has been providing technical support for three years for both the Operational Support Vehicle and Operational Infrastructure Programmes. The aim of this contract is to help manage all OSP documentation not currently supported by a contractor, under a single contract.
The OSP Project Team is a newly formed team responsible for the Through Life Support of a large number of utility vehicles, specialist vehicles and a range of expeditionary systems. As part of this programme, OSP are responsible for maintaining a number of generic publications (upwards of 3,000), which includes Army Equipment Support Publications (AESPs), Air Publications (APs) and Interactive Electronic Publications (IETPs). Historically, these publications have been maintained under individual contracts, with the Project Team providing an appropriate level of Through Life Support.
Allan Webb is required to undertake a wide range of activities to ensure that the publications are produced and maintained to a level which meets the needs of the user community.
– Conversion of hardcopy to electronic formats (MS Word and PDF).
– Risk based technical review of existing publications including a structured programme of research and stakeholder engagement.
– Creation of new publications.
– Updates to existing publications.
– Maintenance of TDOL and JAMES.
The programme of work required is controlled and monitored by a number of measures designed to help provide the Project Team with the required technical assurance for each update, including the use of a Shared Working Environment (SWE) that provides a record of all work carried out by Allan Webb in support of this contract.
Allan Webb has much experience of providing technical publication solutions directly to the Authority or via OEMs. The company’s approach is to work directly with Project Teams to ensure that delivery is in line with their requirements. This approach is built upon our team’s considerable experience of delivering MoD Technical Documentation whilst engaging with MoD stakeholders, industry and other interested parties. Allan Webb has also provided technical support to the Operational Support Vehicle Programme.
To assist with the construction of a Bill of Materials (BoM) for each platform, the team has undertaken a number of engineering, inventory management and data management tasks, using existing data contained in the AESPs and MoD Inventory systems. Data managers within the Allan Webb scanning team (documentscanning.net) use our internal extraction process to capture parts data, along with the associated index pages from each AESP and, once completed, this data is reviewed and analysed by our team. This analysis is based on undertaking a number of in-depth reviews, designed to look for errors in data within the publications and MoD Inventory systems.
Resulting tasks include:
– Providing an error report for each AESP.
– Providing a cross-reference check of all items extracted from the AESPs against all items listed on ISIS and against all applicable OSP DMCs.
– Carrying out a review of Inadequate/Excessive Stockholdings.
– Cleansing of data in MoD systems.
– Screening of all NSNs in Inventory against G1/F1/etc. to identify items with same fit, form and function.
The resulting BoMs for each platform will be used to populate VERITAS, a joint Army HQ and DE&S initiative to provide a costing and inventory management application aimed at delivering an understanding of Equipment and Logistics costs within a given activity plan.
