NCS
Today, more than forty countries around the world use the NATO Codification System (NCS) within their logistics infrastructure. Most of these countries assign and use NATO Stock Numbers (NSNs) as a key to logistics data. Essentially, the NCS is used for three purposes:
 to save money
to aid logistics operations
to provide common support language
