Meet the Team

John Hardcastle
John is a Certified Accountant and has recently been appointed Chairman of the company after serving 13 years as Managing Director. John’s philosophy has been to provide an affordable high-quality service whilst meeting customer timescales. Prior to joining Allan Webb John was Group Controller at Triumph Motorcycles.
Steve Rigsby
Managing Director
Steve joined the company in 1982 in the Codification Department, which he subsequently managed. He became a director in December 2002, and has held various roles since then, including Operations Director, and now Managing Director, a post he has held since 2011. Apart from his specialist Codification knowledge, Steve is also well versed in Integrated Logistics Support and associated disciplines, and is responsible for many innovative customer solutions in that area.
Martin Lewis
Technical & QC Director
Martin joined us in 1986 in Codification. Later that year he was appointed to form and run the cataloguing department , during which time he gained skills in database development that became key in increasing the profile of the company. In December 2004, he became a Director. Since 2008, Martin has been involved in various projects including more database work for both the Navy and the Army. He is also responsible for quality and health and safety.
Gareth Jones
IT & Security Director
Gareth joined the company in 1989 and worked his way up to IT Director in 2001. Allan Webb Ltd’s IT systems are integral to growth of the company and are market leading. Gareth is well known for his innovative solutions for both internal and external projects. He also has a great understanding of MoD and Defence industry systems.
Rory Lipington
Operations Director
Rory first joined Allan Webb in 2004 reaching the position of Sales and Marketing Director before a 3 year spell working as a Business Development Manager for a company which started on Dragon’s Den. Rory re-joined in 2012 as Operations Director where he uses his 20 years’ experience to manage the diverse portfolio of services Allan Webb offer.

Ian Hayes
Sales and Marketing Director
Ian joined Allan Webb Ltd in November 2015 having worked previously for the Babcock International Group for 4 years. Prior to this he spent almost 30 years as a Logistics Officer with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service where he rose to the rank of Captain. In the final 10 years of his career in uniform he specialised in new ship acquisition and became very much an expert in surface ship support, ILS and Supportability Engineering.

Lawrence Eyles
Business Development Manager
Lawrence joined the company in Jan 2010 after 20 years in the Equipment Support area of the MoD. Lawrence has experience in support of requirements capture, project management, development and now delivery of engineering and support services. Projects include TDOL, Failure Reporting and Data Management.

Lorraine Parkes
Business Development Manager
Lorraine joined the company in August 2011. Lorraine comes from a long and established Defence background, involved in the development and delivery of engineering and supply support services.

Simon Mutton
Operations Manager
Simon Joined Allan Webb in 2014 and manages resources and projects across Allan Webb. Simon is a Technical Author by trade and served for 12 years in the Royal Engineers before starting as a trainer and author in the silicone chip industry.
Marie Baker
Support Manager
Marie joined the company in 2011 after 28 years working in the MoD within Supply Chain Management. Over the years she has worked as a Trainer, Inventory Manager and on various Data Cleansing activities. Marie has gained extensive knowledge of all Base Inventory Systems but her main expertise was in the Maritime environment. More recently Marie has been leading on codification and data integrity activities for two major military land vehicle projects.
Simon Boakes
Technical Support Manager
Simon has been with the company since 1994. Previously full time Scanning Manager, Simon now helps clients with Document Management (Cloud Computing) where our customers can freely access their data which we have scanned, Simon also heads up our Data Extraction team where we convert paper into more usable reportable databases allowing clients to complete reports and filters on critical data.
Richard Allott
Special Projects Manager
Richard joined the company for the second time in August 2009, after working for Thales Naval Ltd. for 5 years and CTPi Ltd. for too many years to mention. With his background, Richard has a sound knowledge of the business areas that the company operates in, and he has added significant experience to the company’s skill base. Currently Richard manages a range of bespoke projects, working with a wide range of MoD and Commercial customers.
Mark Copp
Technical Director
Before leaving the MoD in 2012, Mark held the position of Logistics Support Team Leader within D Ships. Mark previously worked for Babcock International Group as the Equipment Management Team Leader within the Surface Ship Support Alliance (SSSA), where he was responsible for equipment management (support chain) activities across the SSSA current and future classes. Mark is an incorporated engineer with the Institution of Engineering and Technology, member of the Association of Project Management and has a MA in Management from the University of the West of England.
Andy Ross
NATO Codification Manager
After 19 years in a range of Codification, Contractor Quality Assurance and NATO Codification Policy roles, Andy developed an expertise in understanding Parts identification and data and helped shape the NATO codification system and its implementation in the UK by Defence Project Teams implementing codification. He left for a new challenge and joined Allan Webb where he was embedded with BAE at Barrow for 23 months supporting the Astute programme, aiding identification and procurement of spares and resolving issues surrounding spares. This was enlightening after many years in the MOD to be on the other side.
Jacquie Garraty
Special Projects Manager
Jacquie joined the company in 2009 after 22 years in the logistics area of the MoD. She has a great understanding of MoD processes and procedures covering a wide range of subjects such as Inventory Management, Storage and Distribution and Demand Processing. Since joining the company she has managed many MoD related projects using her expertise.
Iain Laws
Cataloguing Manager
Iain joined the company 1985, where he was employed to learn the black art of NATO Codification, since then he has progressed through the company to his current role as Cataloguing Manager. During his time at Allan Webb Ltd he has picked up an excellent understanding of the support requirements of our Maritime customers and has taken an active role in some of our larger projects which include the RFA Wave Class, HMS Ocean and RFA Bay Class documentation and procurement activities.
Sarah Rigsby
HR Manager
Sarah joined Allan Webb in 1999 after spending 13 years in Banking. Initially Sarah was the only person in the accounts department. Currently, because of continued company growth, Sarah leads an accounts team of four. Sarah has recently achieved the Association of Accounting Technicians qualification which she found particularly challenging being a “mature” student.
Ian Smith
Training & Data Quality Manager
Ian joined Allan Webb in 2012 following a long career in UK MOD. Ian is highly accomplished in Training Design and Delivery in a wide variety of disciplines. He has delivered in excess of 2000 training courses on NATO Codification around the world and is the lead Trainer for the UK MOD Military Packager Approval Scheme (MPAS). In addition to his SME status in NATO Codification, Ian is a specialist in Data Quality. He was one of the first people in the UK to be certified as an ISO 8000 Master Data Manager and continues this work under the Allan Webb banner in the delivery of our data quality initiatives.
Tom Berwick
Senior Technical Author
Tom joined the company in 1990 In the NATO Codification department as a Technical Clerk. Tom is now the Senior Author within the Technical Publications department with 15 years’ experience in Technical documentation.
Ann Adams
Head of Reception
Ann joined the company in 2011 after a busy career in banking and customer service. She is head of a team of five receptionists. She was educated at Stroud High School and has degrees in Psychology and Sociology. Her approachable and friendly manner welcomes all customers to Allan Webb.
Stephen Hunt
Head of ILS, ARM and Safety
Stephen joined the company in 2017 after successfully running SEMA Ltd (Systems Engineering Management & Assessment). He has many years of experience in the field and brings with him extensive proven knowledge and expertise of all aspects of the management and technical analyses associated with Supportability, Safety and ARM programmes including the associated risk reduction.
Katie Renton
Head of Land
Katie joined the company in 2017 and brings with her a wealth of experience in engineering, Through Life Support and obsolescence management from a career in the RAF, the MoD and BMT Asset Performance (plus a short stint as a Project Manager in a book printing company). A trained avionics engineer, she worked in a number of roles in Operational Support for the MoD, before becoming the Chief Through Life Support, responsible for the whole Operational Support Programme, consisting of three programmes: Protected Mobility, Operational Support Vehicles and Operational Infrastructure teams. She left the MoD to work for BMT as a Defence Consultant, where she looked after the land key account management, delivered a number of Defence Supportability projects, and was capability head for the support and supply chain. In her role as Head of Land she aims to offer the best all-round solution to our land-based customers by taking a strategic view to increase efficiencies and reduce ‘hidden’ costs.
