CASE STUDY: BAE SYSTEMS Auxiliary Oiler
Allan Webb have provided an integrated Parts Management, Documentation and Procurement service to BAE SYSTEMS for the Auxiliary Oiler (AO), procuring over £4 million of on-board spares on their behalf.
This service included:
– Parts Cataloguing.
– NATO Codification.
– Parts Management.
– Parts Procurement.
– Technical Authoring.
Performed within an electronic working environment, the integration of these activities by Allan Webb resulted in tangible cost and time savings for BAE SYSTEMS. One such benefit was having an exceptionally low number of items being put into quarantine, which helped reduce delivery delays.
Other savings were made by utilising Allan Webb’s codification advisors, who advised on the codification process and procedures. Our advisors were able to provide a pragmatic approach to codification, using innovation where necessary to help reduce crippling delays at the in-service phase of the programme.
Subsequent to the completion of this contract, BAE SYSTEMS awarded Allan Webb Ltd the Chairman’s award for innovation.
‘Allan Webb’s Parts Management service was a seamless addition to our operation, with their parts procurement support assisting in the introduction of the Auxiliary Oilers.’
