Every year Allan Webb organises an event for staff in recognition of, and to show our appreciation for their hard work all year. This year’s event was a Family Fun Day which was well attended by staff, management and their families. Held on Sunday 24th June at Stroud Cricket Club in Ryeford, Gloucestershire, the weather couldn’t have been better for a barbecue, rounders and other outdoor games!
The venue (Checkpoint One in this year’s Meningitis Now Five Valleys Walk) offered plenty of outdoor space for children of all ages to run around and to dance to the music provided by The Boxcar Mavericks, a local band formed and fronted by Maverick, his former band mate and bluesman D’S#arp (Allan Webb’s very own, very talented, Darren Iles!) and their three friends, Ade Paveling, Cazz Phillips and Rich Dalton, whose eclectic blend of Americana, Blues, Roots, Country, Southern and Bluegrass styles was very much appreciated by the crowd.
While we recognise that the workplace will never be quite like home, these gatherings enable everybody to get together outside the working environment, chat with people from different parts of the company, get to know each other a little better and have some shared, fun experiences, which all helps in their day-to-day work. Our staff are a very caring bunch of people so it’s great to be able to show them that we care about them too.by
